Embraced By God by Babbie Mason – Book Review and Giveaway!!!

“Embraced by God” by Babbie Mason:

I first became acquainted with Babbie Mason through her worship music.  The ladies Bible Study Group that I use to attend before returning to work had a worship session before each study.  Our teacher introduced me to Babbie and I fell in love with her music.  “Stop By the Church” is one of my all time favorite songs and is locked into my mp3 player.  So when I was given the opportunity to review Babbie’s book I was excited.  I thought to myself  – If her book is half as good as her music, it will be fabulous….  I have an aversion to anything that calls itself a devotional.  I don’t find these types of books helpful to me.  I need deeper content than most devotionals can give me.  I want something that is going to make me turn to the word of God and study for myself.  So when I received the book and I saw “21-day encounter” I thought oh no what have I gotten myself into.  But…..

Because I am a person of my word, I faithfully read Babbie Mason’s book “Embraced by God”.  I am glad I did.  I truly was humbled about devotionals.  “Embraced by God” is a 21-day encounter as I mentioned above that shares the unconditional love of God with you.  We all need to know that God loves us unconditionally.  No strings attached.  Not like our earthly love.  Within the book there are seven promises (seven seems to be a number that God favors too) to study (get that study?  not just read).  Within each chapter of the book there are four challenges given to you so you can embrace the day.  By the end of the book, Babbie hopes as readers we will have an increased capacity to love God and to receive His love.  I love this book it is all about taking a journey of discovery and what it means to be unconditionally loved, appreciated, forgiven, blessed, cherished, treasured, and favored by God.

Babbie Mason has such a way of relating life experiences that you are hooked from the first word.  In her introduction she talks about when her eyes were opened in new awareness of God’s love.  Within this story she shares that she is God’s favorite.  I am God’s favorite and so are you.  When I read this I thought whoa, I can’t be God’s favorite what about all those other people who are holier than me?  So trust me when I tell you this book really gets you in the Word of God and gets the love of God flowing in your life.  I won’t tell you what happened about me and Babbie being God’s favorite, I’ll let you read the book.

About the author, Babbie Mason –

Babbie Mason is a Dove Award-winning and Grammy nominated gospel singer, songwriter, author, creator of the Embrace: A Worship Event for Women ministry, professor of songwriting at Atlanta Christian College and Lee University, and a television talk-show host. She was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2010 and has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs. Babbie has been honored perform for Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Colin Powell, Steve Forbes among many others.  Babbie performs a holiday special at Carnegie Hall every year. Babbie lives near Atlanta on a farm with her husband Charles.
