ST-Logo-v211 is a website dedicated to the home education of families across the world. is a website that can be used with pre-school children all the way up to high schoolers.

I received a complementary subscription to the website as part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew 2013 for The Old Schoolhouse  Magazine. I was given full access to the website for 30 days to use with my family in the privacy of my own home.

I have to saw WOW. The has tons of information. I will be sharing my favorite areas and the ones that I found most helpful in my home. Each section listed on the website is divided into tabs.

My favorite tab was the Dailies. Included within this tab is what’s new this week. This tab is great for keeping track of what’s going on and happening. There are also daily lessons available. Have you ever had your whole homeschool day planned and then something happens and your plan falls to pieces? I have to say that happens in our house more often than not. The daily lessons available under the dailies tab is a great place to find replacement lessons or lessons to fill in when you need them in a hurry. Don’t worry you will receive high quality lessons and instructions. Also under the dailies tab is the daily check lists so you don’t miss anything.

On the website there is a list of each teacher and the subjects they share on. So if you have a favorite teacher and you love their instructional methods you can find the teacher listed on the website and then locate all the subjects they’ve shared on. What a time saver. But, please don’t let this limit you. Try some new teachers and you’ll be amazed at the different instructional styles.  I enjoyed finding new instructors that would be interesting for my children.

Another daily feature is this day in history and this month’s menu. This day in history is truly amazing. You can find out what happened on this very day in the history of our world. This month’s menu is also a place for daily recipes. This website is full of educational benefits for you and your child and includes daily recipes to make life a little bit easier when it comes to preparing dinner after a full day of homeschooling.  Two separate times me and my three girls used the “this day in history tab” to see what events happened for the current day.  We used this feature to complement our history lessons.  Each girls took the historical event for the current day and related it to how the world works now.  This feature not only allowed them to learn about history, when it  happened, and was a springboard for further research.

My favorite resource from is the 2012-2013 versions of the popular TOS Schoolhouse Planners.  As part of your membership to these awesome planning tools are available for free download. This resource alone would cover the cost to join the website for one year. But wait that is not all, you get 12 ebooks from TOS Book Homeschool Library, TOS Thematic Units, 12-14 each month and the TOS magazine delivered to your inbox. Awesome deal. The price to join is $5.95 per month or a one year membership for $64.26.

Here is a web photo of the planner that my 11-year-old daughter used for one full week to help her organize her private school and homeschool lessons.  By the way did I mention that this download is free with your membership.  What an awesome tool, this tool helped my daughter remember all her assignments.  Prioritize them in order of importance and still complete all the requirement of each lesson in a timely manner.   I used the school house planners to keep track of my personal schedule, three busy little girls schedule, my husband’s schedule and our lessons all in one place.  I fell in love instantly.  I was able to track conflicts and tailor lessons and plans around our schedules with ease.  primary-231x300

I loved the website.  I will definitely be adding it to my daily visit list for homeschooling resources.  Awesome place to find lessons, lesson plans, impromptu lessons or independent study for older children.  I couldn’t find anything that I didn’t like on   All the information was helpful and useful.  The only thing I noticed is when you first visit for the first time you are overwhelmed with all the information.  I had no idea where to start.  So my suggestion would be that the website create a place called New Here please visit or Suggested Start pages that will help easy all those newbie or first time user jitters.

  1. I’ve used the planner a lot. The dailies isn’t an area I’ve explored much, but you have me interested in looking into it more.
