This was my first time reading a Lynn Austin novel. I love to read fiction that tell the stories contained in the Bible in deeper detail. Lynn Austin has the gift of taking a story from the Bible and writing a book about it. In “Return to Me” she chose a story in the Old Testament that was set during the exile of the Israelites from the promise land to Babylon. Ask yourself how many times have you read this story in the Old Testament? How much of it did you retain? How much of it would you have liked to retain? Read “Return to Me” and the story will forever live in your heart.
I was given a complementary copy of “Return to Me” by Litfuse Publicity to read and write an objective review. After reading Lynn Austin’s book “Return to Me”, I have decided to go back and read more of her biblical history fiction books.
This book is a definite page turner. You will not want to put this book down once you start reading it. As the biblical characters such as Iddo and Zechariah come alive within the pages you are caught up in the storyline and plot. Ever wonder what it was like for the Jewish people to return from exile in Babylon? Just pick up your own copy of “Return to Me” by Lynn Austin and experience it for yourself.
A Note to the Readers from Lynn Austin shares with her readers that a careful study of Scripture and commentaries were used in supporting the fictionalization of this story. The author has paraphrased the words of certain biblical figures in order to create an authentic manner of speaking. The NIV was used when characters contained within this book quoted Scripture.
