God Is Able by Priscilla Shirer Book Review and Giveaway!

As the title of Priscilla Shirer’s new book says “God is Able”, BUT what about ____________ We will call our blanks “IT”‘s as Priscilla does in her book. (I’ll let you fill in the blank).

God-is-Able-194x300

If you are like me, you probably have a few “IT”s to fill in the blanks with, right?  What is an “IT” you might ask?  “IT’s” are anything you have doubts about that God is able to accomplish.  Fears, lack of confidence, etc.  (I’ll let you fill in the blank or blanks again).  Priscilla says if you’ve lost an ounce of confidence in the power and loving attention of God, it’s time someone told you different.  Get ready and put your seat belt on because she is going to show us different from the true source of truth, the Bible.

But wait…. The Bible tells us “Nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37 NLT.  So why do I have a few “IT’s” in my life then?  Join me as we review Priscilla Shirer’s new book “God is Able”.  Guess what?  We also have a giveaway!  Yes, one of my blessed readers will win their very own copy of “God Is Able” by Priscilla Shirer.  More details later…  You’ll want to read this one.

Especially if you are honest enough with yourself and God to admit you have doubts.  So we’ve tried everything, done all that I know to do and still the “IT” is overshadowing my faith.  How about you?  Those doubts just seem a lot larger than my faith right now, Lord.  Let’s pray. “Lord, I believe, but please help my unbelief”. Mark 9:24 ESV.

On the back cover of “God Is Able” Priscilla reminds us that nothing is impossible with God, nothing.  Not even your “IT”s or my “IT”s.  Whether this “IT” has been around forever or it just popped up in our life.  Priscilla comes along side us to restore our faith by leading us to the Word of God and looking at two verses within it.  Two powerful verses from Scripture and sound Biblical teaching will help our doubts and rebuild our confidence in God.

One thing I loved about this book is that Priscilla is not asking me to deny my “IT”s and the troubles it has caused, but rather to face “IT” with truth, the truth that God is always up to great things.  I also love that Priscilla shares her “IT”s with us.  She doesn’t make this out to be a personal problem, she shares how she has faced the same things as we and overcame.  Personal testimony, can I get an Amen?

An important thing to remember whether you are reading “God Is Able” or walking your own path of life as a child of God, as you face these “IT”s you are never facing them alone.  Alone we can be defeated but, with God nothing is impossible.

  1. Melissa….I have been in Max Lucado’s, “The Lucado Inpirational Reader” for several months…..These are a couple to quotes that blessed me this week….
“Our big God blesses our small faith….”
“Fear creates a form of spiritual amnesia. It dulls our miracle memory. It makes us forget what Jesus has done and how good God is.”
With these as a referance my “it” is not fear but spiritual amnesia…….too often I find myself forgetting the past miracles in my life and therefore not having the confidence to recognize them daily…….staying in God’s word and Praise is my prescription……I take a big dose everyday…..love you, Phyllis
