Happy Mother’s Day…

Melissa’s and Dawn’s Musings wants to wish all of you a Happy Mother’s Day.  Whether you’re a mother or waiting to become one, Happy Mother’s Day.

I was reading a Twitter feed the other day and one of the dear ladies I follow on Twitter became a mother at age 50.  Truly amazing and truly God in His perfect timing and place.  So if you are not a mother, yet and you are longing to be one.  Don’t give up hope.  C ling to the promises that the Lord has given you.  IF you don’t have promises you are clinging too, then stop what you are doing right now and get some.  Stand on the Word of God because it never fails.  NEVER.  Are you listening?

I am a motherless mother.  I lost my mother to suicide in 2006 so that also makes me a suicide survivor.  I miss my mother each and everyday.  The hole that her death left in my life is huge.  She was my mother, my mentor, my guide, my protector, my teacher or so I thought….

After my mother’s death, I hated Mother’s Day.  I refused to let my little family take me anywhere because it was just too painful to see all those people with their mom’s and celebrating.  It stung too much.  I couldn’t figure out why my mom chose to not stay.  I couldn’t find the place to put the blame.  The guilt and the shame was just too much.  As another day passed with the “why” in my heart, mind not getting answered, I cried out again to the Lord in hopes of an answer.  That is when…

He showed me that my mom was just a human  being.  A human being He had created.  He molded her and shaped her in her mother’s womb.  She was flesh and blood.  My mother had not been born again to my knowledge, she was all flesh no Spirit.  Then the Lord proceeded to show me that He was my mother, my mentor, my guide, my protector, my teacher and oh so much more.  I had placed my trust and faith in a person made of flesh and blood, not the Creator.  As I realized what God was revealing to me, it also dawned on me that He is in control.  I can trust Him.  He’ll never let me down.  People will, but God never.

So as you are celebrating Mother’s Day with your mom and family just remember who created your mom or yourself as Mother and realized what an awesome privilege and blessing has been bestowed upon you.  With the Lord as your guide you are raising your children according to His ways.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Until Next Time,
